When we talk about Why Settle Technology’s early days in business in 1996, we mention rolling out networks, deploying databases what it was like to bring email into Scottish businesses. Those were revolutionary technologies, but the real revolution, was how transformational the tech was for our clients.
If the technology is right for the client, it should help them grow as a business, make better decisions and provide a better service. It should also make them money. Tech should not only be a cost, it has to benefit the business, or someone is not doing their job properly.
Several clients we went through those changes with back in the 90s are now leading players in their sectors across the central belt of Scotland. We are still on the revolutionary path together, enabling them to out-perform their competitors and grow their bottom line.
Managing Director
I love the job, it is very stimulating, but I can sit on a chair without moving for hours, so outside of work, I am a runner. I did my first marathon at 50 and would really like to do another.
Why Settle Technology has provided IT Support, Strategy and Cybersecurity to businesses across Central Scotland since 1996.
The majority of our client base is in the professional services sector around Glasgow and Edinburgh; mostly solicitors but there are a good number of surveyors too. Among others, we work with charities, events organisations, construction and transport companies, who all have a few things in common:
Business depends on systems being safe and available.
The consequence of downtime is high.
Data security and compliance standards are important.
We have 12 staff in our team, who, on average, have been with the company 13 years. This means that when a client gets in touch with an issue, an unparallel wealth of experience will respond.
Today, our work is less about fixing problems than bringing strategic technical oversight to our client’s businesses. We know what works well for our clients and bring that experience to others in similar sectors.
Stuart is our lead developer, and Director. He's seen it all when it comes to software and databases.
When Robert is not in the middle of some complex project, you will find him chatting about sport or coaching his local kids football team.
Cathy is our administrative head, responsible for accounts, HR and the smooth running of the office.
Susan's job is to keep us all in check, and manage workflow. When she is outside of the office, you will find her working on her latest art project.
Hailing from the distant lands of Belarus, Aleks is a big part of our development team. He enjoys tinkering with tech in his spare time.
What Gerry doesn't know isn't worth knowing. Having been in this profession for many years, Gerry has nearly seen it all.
Happiest when playing with shiny new tech, Nick also enjoys diving head first into complex networks.
Originally a footballer from South Africa, you can now find Neil on our front line battling our helpdesk calls.
The man who goes by many names - properly pronounced (kass - im) also found on our frontline battling helpdesk calls.
Calum’s passion is music, which he considered as a career before turning to IT. He is our newest member of staff and says “No relation” fives times a day.
